PRACTICE

Individual Therapy
Whether you are looking to change behaviours that are no longer serving you, understand patterns in your relationships, find more effective ways of dealing with emotions, or process the effects of trauma; therapy can provide you with the tools you need to effect meaningful change.

My therapeutic practice is guided by a number of different approaches, including Trauma Focused Therapy, Attachment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Our work together will incorporate different elements of each of these frameworks in order to create a treatment plan that meets your individual needs.

Trauma Focused Therapy
Trauma Focused Therapy provides us with an understanding of how a traumatic experience impacts a person's mental, behavioural, emotional and physical well-being. This approach is grounded in principles of trauma-informed care, namely safety, collaboration, choice and empowerment. It incorporates both the mind and the body to develop a more integrated understanding of our past experiences. Most importantly, it encourages individuals to reconnect with themselves in a compassionate way.

The trauma focused care I offer includes Internal Family Systems Therapy and Deep Brain Reorienting informed practices.

Attachment-Based Therapy
Attachment therapy explores how our early experiences impact our ability to form positive relationships with ourselves and others in adulthood.

Attachment-Based Therapy might be the right fit for you, if you:
-
Struggle to make meaningful connections with others
-
Find it difficult to be emotionally vulnerable
-
Often leave relationships prematurely due to fear
-
Worry about abandonment in your relationships
-
Worry your partner doesn’t love you despite their words/actions
-
Find yourself a "serial dater” because you’re afraid to be alone
-
Feel distraught in relationships, especially as they become more intimate
-
Have poor self-esteem

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is based on the idea that how we think (cognition), how we feel (emotion) and how we act (behaviour) are interconnected. Through this lens, we understand that our thoughts influence how we feel, and our feelings influence our behaviour. Addressing negative, distorted and unrealistic thoughts can then have a ripple effect that leads to positive changes in all areas of our lives.
